<--Temple Major Today Alex and I went downtown to the Zocalo. The Zocalo is a huge square where merchants come to gather and sell their goods. Today the squares was filled with government protestors. Surrounding the Zocalo is the Palacio Nacional (Presidential palce), Catedral Metropolitano and the Temple Major. The Temple Major is an archeological site containing the ruins of an Aztec temple built in the 1400's. What is interesting about the temple was that during a ceremony lasting four days sacrifical victims taken during campaigns were formed in four columns, each stretching three miles. At least twenty thousand human hearts were torn out to please the god. After visiting the temple and musuem, we had a quick supper at El Ray De Pavo (The Turkey King) our equivalent of Schwartz but for Turkey.
