<--Cxbl Event 5

On the Weekend of the 16th Nrg and Vma played respectively the Cxbl and the Mxl. Vma faced off against the Lasalle Shields. Early in the match, the Shields devastated VMA by repeatedly taking out VMA's back right corner. The corner was key in helping other teammates getting into the snake. Before half time, Shields led by 4 points. After understanding Shields overall strategy, VMA came back by doubling up their sweetspot lanes on the back corners and pushing aggressively into the snake and 50's. In the final minute of the match, VMA took a 5 minute penalty which would mean that a point would be given to Shields according to the rules. Alex Croteau Pothier had been shot in the pant leg while diving to his dorito bunker, an obvious hit according to the marshal. Unbeknownst to Alex, the ball had hit loose material in his pants. Although the penalty was rightfully assessed, the marshal should have acknowledged that Alex wasn't trying to hide the hit as he wasn’t aware of it. As well, the marshal shouldn't of expressed his glee at finding the hit by proclaiming "Yes!!!, you 5 minutes!" In the end, VMA tied the game at 11 points.

NRG fought Moncton Shock on Sunday Morning. We took an early lead in the first half simply by forcefully pushing our corner and snake players into their respective bunkers. Moncton came back in the second half by pushing the centre X and delaying their corners by means of the pillars. The final score for the match was 10-13. Later on Sunday, NRG battled the Tremblant Cowboys. The Cowboys were playing for second place overall which meant they would be entering the CXBL overall finals. Obvioulsy, teams betting on their demise were present, watching and very helpful. Trembland led the match in the first half by pushing aggresively the centre of the field. In the second half, NRG countered the Cowboys moves by doubling up on the X and the 50 castle bunker. Unfortunetly, we were unable to catch up and such the final score was 13-10 in favor of the Cowboys. I'm sure that if our team had had our full roster we would of definetly have won this event. The lack of Erni due to school was definetly detrimental to the team. Furthermore, Julien injured at the San Diego Nppl Event, caused him much pain while playing the snake.
