<--Gridlock Tryout

JP, Gerry and I drove 16 hours to the Gridlock Tryouts in Rock hill South Carolina. The ride wasn't all that bad considering everything. We got to Rock hill late Friday night and rented a room in a close by Howard Johnson hotel. Saturday morning members of Gridlock’s D1 team and members of Trauma worked the crowd of about 60 people into shape with a series of cardio exercises. We were then submitted to running and gunning drills were we were assessed. Judges wrote notes about our performances and would later make their decision as to whether you made or didn’t make the team. After Lunch we were split in squads to play games. This was the best part of the weekend as we played game after game rushing to show we were ready and willing to give 200%. The competition was ferocious as everyone wanted to be on the team. Jp, Gerry and I originally thought we could go out to for a wild night in Charlotte but we were so exhausted we just ended up sleeping in our hotel. On Sunday, we proceeded to do even more cardio exercises. The rain didn’t stop the Trauma instructors from whooping our asses into shape. Afterwards, we skipped doing drills and went directly to playing games. I played aggressively and chose different bunkers to play from every game. I figured this would impress the judges as it shows variety, ability and skill. We drove home that night confident that we all had done well and anxiously awaited the results of the tryout. Jp and I were asked to come back the next weekend. Unfortunately for Gerry he didn’t get the same response which is too bad since Gerry is great player with lots of heart, commitment, talent and skill.
